Il 31 marzo 2009 a Long Buckby nell' Oxfordshire, lo stagno che i coniugi Fisher hanno nel loro giardino viene prosciugato con secchi, pale e pompe idrovore. L'acqua è trasportata in Italia e fatta lentamente evaporare da tre grandi pentole messe su fornelli a gas alimentati con bombole da cucina e sostenuti da tre iconiche strutture di legno. In questo modo lo stagno viene liberato nello spazio della galleria e restituito sotto nuova forma.

L'indagine di Elisabetta Alazraki sulla ritualità e sul mistero della forma astratta continua alla galleria neon>fvd con un'opera solenne e di notevole complessità semantica. Come già avvenuto con l'installazione Bird Temple alla Florence Trust di Londra (una camera contenente cinque fringuelli e una casa per uccelli a forma di tempio montata dentro a una chiesa consacrata) e con l'opera Oscillating Devices, esposta lo scorso novembre nella mostra Matter of Time (tre altalene funzionanti, alte più di quattro metri, costruite con pneumatici e catene appese alle altissime travi del soffitto di un magazzino dismesso), l'artista incanala l'ordinario in un sistema di senso teso a far emergere la misteriosa relazione che esiste tra un'entità dal valore archetipico come uno specchio d'acqua e il modo in cui l'individuo costantemente ne riadatta la nozione attraverso l'esperienza.

Elisabetta Alazraki (1982) si è diplomata in fotografia all'Istituto Europeo di Design di Milano e attualmente frequenta il Master in Fine Arts presso il Central Saint Martins College di Londra. Nel 2007 ha ottenuto la residency della Florence Trust Foundation.

On 31 March 2009 in Long Buckby, Oxfordshire, the pond Mr. and Mrs. Fisher have in their garden is drained with buckets, shovels and submersible pumps. The water is carried to Italy and slowly evaporated in three big pots placed on stoves fed by gas bottles and held by three iconic wooden structures. In this way, the pond is liberated into the gallery space and is returned in a new shape.

Elisabetta Alazraki’s investigation on the ritualism and mystery of the abstract form continues at Neon>fvd with a solemn and semantically complex work. Like in the installation work Bird Temple exhibited at the Florence Trust in London (a room containing five finches and a nest box shaped as a temple mounted inside a consecrated church) and with the work Oscillating Devices, exhibited in November at the show Matter of Time (three working swings, more than four meters high, built with tires and chains and hanging from the tall ceiling beams of an abandoned warehouse), the artist canalizes the ordinary into a system aimed at materializing the mysterious relationship between an archetypal entity such as a body of water and the way in which the individual constantly readjusts its notion through experience.

Elisabetta Alazraki (1982) graduated in photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design of Milan and is currently attending the Master of Fine Arts at the Central Saint Martins College in London. In 2007 she was selected for a residency at the Florence Trust Foundation.
